A Villa Interior Design Brief for Owners and Investors

Afnan Group editorial guides · 3 November 2026 · 2 min read

A villa design brief is most useful when it explains the intended living experience, the property’s existing conditions and the owner’s priorities. Inspiration images can support that conversation, but they should not replace it. For a design-only appointment, the agreed deliverables and the boundary with later execution work need to be clear from the beginning.

Describe how the home will be used

Explain who will use each area, the routines the design should support and which spaces need particular attention. Identify practical requirements such as storage, flexibility or the relationship between rooms. Share the available plans and photographs, marking any uncertainty about existing conditions. The designer can then distinguish priorities that affect the layout from preferences that mainly concern colour, furniture or decoration.

Agree the scope of the appointment

List the spaces included and the design outputs expected at each stage. Clarify how concepts, layouts, visualisations and material selections will be reviewed if they form part of the appointment. Identify specialist input and approvals that must be handled by the appropriate professionals. A rendered image communicates design intent; it does not, on its own, define every technical or construction requirement for the property.

Prepare for the next project stage

Agree the number and purpose of review stages and nominate the person who consolidates feedback. Keep approved choices and open decisions in a written schedule. At handover, identify the files and information that the separately appointed execution team will receive. This makes it easier to discuss the construction proposal against an organised design package instead of expecting a contractor to interpret a collection of images.

Questions to bring to your project discussion

  • What daily routines and spaces matter most?
  • Are existing plans and conditions verified?
  • Which rooms and design outputs are included?
  • What specialist review or approvals are separate?
  • Who approves selections and the final design package?

Your next step

Afnan Group can discuss villa interiors as a design-only service. Share the available plans, practical requirements and visual references; site execution, procurement and fit-out installation remain with the separately appointed execution team.

Prepare a project brief ↗

These general project-planning guides are not a project-specific engineering specification. Design suitability, applicable requirements and approvals must be established by the responsible project professionals. Afnan’s interior, architectural and parametric services are design only; metal works can be scoped for design and execution.
